Nail Art

Nail Art refers to the art that is done on the nail by a nail technician using different media such as gels, paints, rhinestones, decals etc.

 

 

Nail Bed

Skin just under the nail on which the nail rests.

Nail Biting refers to the habit of biting someone's own nails. It affects both the health of nails, as well the overall health of the individual. In some cases, can be a psychological disorder.

 

 

Nail Care

Taking steps to keep nails healthy.

 

 

Nail Disease/Disorder

Nail Disease/Disorder refers to a disease or trauma of the nail.

 

 

Nail Enamel Synonym of Nail Polish.

Nail Fold

Hard skin overlapping the base and sides of a nail.

 

 

Nail Grooves

Tracks in the nail bed.

 

 

Nail Lacquer

Synonym of nail polish.

 

 

Nail Mail

When nail polish is delivered to any person via mail.

 

 

Nail Plate

The hard-translucent part of the nail, it is made of keratin protein.

 

 

Nail Polish

A lacquer that is applied to the nails to decorate and protect them.

Anything that is used to quickly dry nail polish.

 

 

Nail Polish Remover

Any solvent that is used to remove nail polish.

 

 

Nail Polish Thinner

A solvent added to nail polish that makes it thin and easy to apply.

Nail Prep refers to preparing nails before applying acrylic nails, so that they can stick and stay.

 

 

Nail Root

The Nail Root is under the cuticle where the nail meets the finger at the base of the nail.

 

 

Nail Strengthener

Nail strengtheners are products that make nails more resistant to breakage and protect them from damage.

 

 

Nail Technician (Nail Tech)

Someone who is licensed to perform nail services.

 

 

Nail Tips

Nail Tips refer to artificial fingernails that are used as extensions.

 

 

Nail Tips Well Well of nail extension refers to the area which makes contact with natural nail plate.

Nail Trauma

Nail Trauma refers to nail bed deformity when nails are hit by something.

 

 

Nail Treatment

Any product or method that is used to treat nails.

 

 

Nail Tumor

A tumor present in the nail bed.

 

 

Nail Walls

Skin on sides of nails.

 

 

Nail Wheel

A plastic wheel with fake nails, used for displaying nail polishes and nail art.

 

 

Nail Wrap

Any paper or fabric that is applied to nails as an extension, natural nail or as artificial tip.

 

 

Nail Yeast Infection

Nail disease caused by yeast present under the nails. often in between artificial nail products and the top layer of nail. These infections make nails brittle and cause nail lifting.

 

 

Nanotechnology

Technology that deals with very small materials that are sized from one to 100 nanometers.

 

 

Natural Nail

Nails that occur naturally.

 

 

Natural Nail Care

Taking proper steps and treatment to keep nails healthy.

 

 

Neuromas

A painful condition due to growth of nerve between the third & fourth toes.

 

 

Newbie

Slang for newly appointed or graduated nail tech.

 

 

NFPA Hazard Classification

Rating system for the classification of chemicals based on health, flammability, reactivity and other elements by National Fire Protection Agency.

 

 

Nippers

A manicure and pedicure tool that is used to trim nails, cuticles and to nip gels.

 

 

Nitrocellulose

A substance used in the production of nail paints, polishes and top/base coats.

 

 

No-Buy

No-Buy refers to a month or a year in which someone chooses not to buy products related to any specific category like clothes, nail polishes etc.

 

 

No-Light Gel

Nail gels that do not require a UV lamp for hardening.

 

 

Non-Acid Primer

Primer that does not contain acids such as methacrylic acid.

 

 

Non-Toxic

A substance that is not harmful when ingested (with LD50 rating of >15g/Kg)

 

 

NOTD

Acronym for “Nails of the Day”

 

 

NP

“Nail Polish”

 

 

Nubbins

Slang for short nails.

 

 

Nuggle

Someone who is new to world of nail polish.
